Dear Anuttara Community we want to share about some significant changes at Anuttara Ashram,
We want to share with you some significant changes that are unfolding for our family, our school, and most importantly, our beloved ashram. This post is an attempt to address the many questions we've received and to offer transparency about our journey and decisions.
Running the ashram has always been a labor of love for both Bhairav and me. We cherished every moment, every connection, and every effort to keep this place thriving. However, the impact of COVID-19 put us in a precarious financial situation. Being a donation-based community meant that whatever funds we had were always reinvested into the ashram. The lockdowns were particularly challenging, as they cut off the lifeline that kept our doors open.
We cherished every moment, every connection, and every effort to keep this place thriving.
When our son Kailash was born, I began experiencing a profound intuition that our path might not lie on this land any longer. This was a confusing and unsettling feeling, as this place has been our home, our love, and our Dharma for over a decade. Despite this intuition, we returned to the land, only to quickly realize that we could not run the ashram as we once did. Caring for a newborn demanded our full attention, and the ashram required both of us to operate smoothly.

Our financial struggles persisted, and an expert advised us that we would need a massive endorsement to continue. This would require us to shift towards a more capitalistic model, which did not resonate with our values. As we grappled with these realities, the symbolic dreams and messages I received continued to suggest that our time here was ending. Seeking clarity, we reached out to Guruji, who confirmed that it was time for us to move on.
Guruji advised us to travel and teach abroad, which we did, even though it was challenging with a newborn. This period of travel, while difficult, was a necessary step in resolving things on a deeper, unseen level that only Guruji could understand.
Now, as Kailash turns two, we have spent considerable time adjusting to parenthood, letting go of our previous way of life, and coming to terms with the need to move on from the ashram. We know this impacts many of you, our cherished community, which is why we wanted to address your questions and concerns openly.

Our recent fundraiser was a valiant effort to save the ashram. It helped us reach a breakeven point financially, but it was not enough to sustain the ashram, especially with the added responsibilities of raising a child. Our priorities have shifted; our world now revolves around Kailash, and we recognize the need to provide him with stability and a supportive community.

Our upcoming retreat, "The Joy of Being," scheduled for the end of August, will be our last retreat at the ashram. In a way, it’s a celebration of life, and it would mean so much to us to see your familiar faces come out to help us say goodbye. Whether it be for a day or the whole retreat, we'd love to have you join us.

While we are reluctant to put the land up for sale, our priority is to raise Kailash closer to town, where he can have access to programs and a community of friends. Ideally, we hope to find an individual or a collective interested in renting this place and continuing to use it as a retreat center and conscious community, following their own dreams and intentions. This would relieve us of the necessity to sell and truly fill our hearts to see all that we've created continue to be used in a conscious and intentional way.

We want to assure you that the online school and the ashram are two separate entities. These changes will not affect the online school in any way. Our online courses, mentorships, and programs will continue to run as usual, providing the same level of support and community engagement you have come to expect from Anuttara.
We would love to hear from anyone interested in potentially renting this land or who has ideas on how to make more people aware that we are looking for renters. Your interest and support mean the world to us, and we are eager to explore the possibilities together.
With love and gratitude,
